New Product Release: GF 765 Rainbow Holographic Film

Add another dimension of color to your stickers & decals with GF 765 Rainbow Holographic Film 🌈

SPARTA, MI — General Formulations, a leading manufacturer of Pressure Sensitive Films, announced today the launch of GF 765 Rainbow Holographic Film. GF 765 adds a whole new dimension of color to graphics. It is 6-mil thick, for easy handling, and the permanent adhesive makes it great for decals, retail displays, packaging, or whatever you can dream up! It is compatible with solvent, latex, and UV curable inks.

“We are extremely excited about the launch of GF 765 Rainbow Holographic Film,” states Matt Edwards, Digital Print Media Product Manager, General Formulations. “GF 765 is a fantastic product for our visual market. We can’t wait to see how it is creatively used in different applications and graphics.”

At IT Supplies, we decided to do some testing of our own and printed three different examples using the GF 765 Rainbow Holographic Film (pictured below). The three prints themselves are all slightly different. We laid down a low percentage of a white base layer of white ink behind two of them. The top print has no white ink, just the image. The middle has a 2% flood white layer with the color printed over the top. The bottom image has a 5% flood white layer with the color printed over the top.

Adding the white ink layer creates a slight enhancement to the density of the colors and knocks out some of the holographic properties of the media but not entirely. We found that just a 10% white base layer will knock out the holographic properties entirely. Which is good to know when someone designs a file, and they want to “kill” the holographic properties in part of the image and enhance in other areas with no other layers.

We believe this product will be great for people who produce stickers and decals. Or for anyone looking to create holographic text or labeling. You simply would just block out the rest of the area with ink and leave the holographic parts unprinted, or you can lower the ink density percentage in the areas of text if you want them to be a certain color but maintain the holographic look. File design and getting crafty with the ink density is going to be key to maximize the look of this product!
