You may have heard that Epson has released an upgraded version of their popular F3070 Industrial DTG printer. The Epson F3070 Max boasts some new improvements and added features that haven’t been available previously on the F3070. In the video below, Andy will tell you exactly what has changed and what you’re getting with the Epson F3070 Max DTG.
Last month Epson announced the Epson F3070 Max. There has been a lot of confusion about what exactly is an F3070 Max and how it compares to the F3070 that has been available for the past few years. Today, Andy will set the record straight on what new features are added to the Max and what is myth.
First, what has changed on the F3070 Max? The biggest change to the F3070 Max is an upgraded white ink circulation system. This new system is the behind-the-scenes hero of the F3070 Max. You won’t see it working but you will notice its effects. The system features an enhanced triple white ink filtration process that removes ink contaminates or sediment before it reaches the print head. So why do we need to triple filter the white ink? We believe this is the most important new advancement in the F3070 Max, lets really dig into this. It all comes down to titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide is the most widely used white pigment in the world and it makes up 10% of the solution found in Epson’s DTG white ink. Titanium dioxide is used in a wide variety of products, including paints, paper, cosmetics, toothpaste, food, and sunscreen. It has a number of desirable properties: it’s an opaque white, its chemically inert, UV resistant and non-toxic. So why do we need to auto circulate and triple filter the white ink? Well, the challenge of titanium dioxide is that it is insoluble in water. That means it doesn’t dissolve into smaller particles when mixed into water, instead it remains suspended in the water or settles to the bottom. Some other common insoluble substances are sand, or oil so picture the challenge of an ink containing those types of substances. With that in mind, you can see why it becomes so important to keep white ink in constant circulation to keep it from settling or globbing into bigger particles. If you don’t circulate and filter the white ink it will lead to inconsistent pigment being pulled to the head, and print head nozzle clogs, and eventually print head failure. This is devastating to the DTG print shop- and this is why we think this is the biggest advancement in the Epson F3070 Max. Epson has totally new plumbing and filtration to keep their white ink in motion and ensure that it has the right consistency at the print head. It’s so important and Epson has solved a problem that has plagued the DTG industry for 30 years.
Is that all that’s new? No, there are also some workflow efficiency improvements. The Epson F3070 Max will now come with Epson Garment Creator 2 software. This software has 30% faster processing speed than the old software. It also supports 4x greater resolution which allows you to print the smallest finest details on DTF film. They’ve also made improvements to their Easy Print system for no-touch hot folder-based batch file processing. These 3 improvements will increase the print quality and throughput of files that can be sent to the printer, and while the print speed at the printer is unchanged, the number of shirts you produce may increase as a result of the faster file processing.
Finally, Epson will now ship the F3070 Max printers with an included 3 year warranty. This equates to a nearly $6000 value and it speaks to Epson’s confidence in the durability and reliability of this printer. Users will still be able to change out their own print heads as needed for less than $700, but beyond that Epson will handle all parts and labor if anything goes wrong on the F3070 Max.
So how do you make sure that you order an F3070 Max and get these new features? Well, the good news is that the F3070 Max is the only F3070 available now. Every F3070 is a Max. It’s not an upsell, it’s a total replacement of the F3070 in Epson’s printer lineup. So, if you are interested in Epson’s Industrial DTG line, you’ll be looking at the Epson F3070 Max and its improved features and extended 3-year warranty.
